AI Transparency

Last updated: September 16, 2026

Emotional Theater uses a gated artificial intelligence system for one specific purpose: helping construct personalized Emotional Theater EQ Guides.

This is not an open-ended AI chatbot. It does not hold ongoing conversations with users, develop a relationship with them, or independently provide advice. Each Guide is created through a limited, one-way process using the selections and optional information submitted by the user.

What “Gated AI” Means

Emotional Theater’s AI operates within defined boundaries established for EQ Guide construction.

The system:

  • Works only within Emotional Theater’s Guide-building process

  • Uses the focus and optional personalization submitted by the user

  • Draws from Emotional Theater’s pre-approved educational content

  • Assembles and adapts that content into a structured EQ Guide

  • Applies safety controls designed to identify requests that are unsafe, inappropriate, or outside the intended educational purpose

  • Produces a single Guide rather than beginning or continuing an AI conversation

The AI cannot freely explore unrelated subjects or operate outside the limits established by Emotional Theater.

What Is the AI Mentor?

The Emotional Theater AI Mentor is the gated technology used to construct an EQ Guide around a focus selected by the user.

A user may choose:

  • An emotion, Emotional Intelligence skill, or Durable Skill

  • A learning level or intended audience

  • Optional information about what they would like to understand, explore, or practice

The AI Mentor combines these selections with Emotional Theater’s pre-approved content to assemble a focused Guide. Depending on the Guide, the result may include an educational explanation, reflection, practical takeaway, conversation starter, or continued experience.

The AI Mentor is a Guide-building tool. It is not a human mentor, conversational companion, or independent source of advice.

A One-Way Guide-Building Process

The AI Mentor does not create an ongoing conversation.

Users submit their selections and optional personalization through the Guide builder. The gated AI processes that information once and returns a completed EQ Guide. Users cannot continue chatting with the AI, ask it follow-up questions within the Guide, or engage it in an unrestricted exchange.

If a user wants another Guide, they begin a new Guide-building request within the same gated process.

How Pre-Approved Content Is Used

Emotional Theater develops and reviews the educational content used to support its EQ Guides.

The gated AI may:

  • Identify the content that best matches the user’s selected focus

  • Organize approved material into the appropriate Guide structure

  • Adapt language and examples for the selected learning level or audience

  • Incorporate limited user personalization

  • Connect Emotional Intelligence concepts with relevant Durable Skills

  • Assemble a personalized or ready-to-use EQ Guide

The AI is not given unrestricted authority to create a learning experience outside Emotional Theater’s established content, structure, purpose, and safety boundaries.

Personalization Is Optional

Users may provide limited information to shape the language, emphasis, examples, or takeaway in their Guide. Personalization is intended to give the system a useful direction—not to begin a conversation or create a personal relationship with the AI.

Users do not need to share a private story or personal background. A direction, question, skill, idea, or desired takeaway is enough.

Users may also skip personalization. When no additional information is submitted, the system assembles a complete, ready-to-use Guide from the selected focus and Emotional Theater’s pre-approved content. We sometimes call this the boxed version of the Guide.

Users should not submit full names, addresses, passwords, contact information, school schedules, financial information, medical records, or other unnecessary personal or identifying information.

What the AI Does Not Do

The AI Mentor does not:

  • Engage in open-ended or ongoing conversation

  • Act as a human mentor or build a personal relationship with a user

  • Search freely for information outside the Guide-building process

  • Independently determine what a user needs

  • Provide therapy, counseling, diagnosis, or treatment

  • Provide medical, legal, financial, or emergency advice

  • Decide what a person should feel

  • Determine whether someone is right or wrong

  • Grade, score, profile, or evaluate a person

  • Predict a person’s behavior or future outcomes

  • Replace a parent, guardian, educator, mentor, employer, or qualified professional

  • Make decisions on a user’s behalf

An EQ Guide is an educational resource. It is not a diagnosis, verdict, professional recommendation, or required course of action.

Safety Guardrails

Emotional Theater uses safety controls to help keep the AI within the limited purpose of EQ Guide construction.

Submitted information may be screened to identify content that appears unsafe, inappropriate, or outside the educational scope of the service. A request may be limited, redirected, or declined when the system determines that it cannot safely or appropriately construct a Guide.

These safeguards reduce risk but cannot guarantee that every output will be complete, accurate, or suitable for every person or situation.

Emotional Theater is not an emergency or crisis service. Anyone who feels unsafe or needs immediate assistance should contact a trusted adult, qualified professional, local emergency service, or appropriate crisis-support service.

AI Can Make Mistakes

Although the system is gated and uses pre-approved Emotional Theater content, AI-assisted outputs may still contain mistakes. A Guide may occasionally be incomplete, repetitive, overly general, unclear, or unsuitable for a particular situation.

Users should apply their own judgment before using a Guide. Mentors should review each Guide before sharing it with a learner, family, group, classroom, community, or workplace.

Important personal, educational, medical, legal, financial, employment, or safety decisions should not be based solely on an AI-assisted EQ Guide.

Human Choice Remains Central

The purpose of an EQ Guide is to support learning, reflection, and practice—not to replace human judgment.

Users decide:

  • What they want to explore

  • Whether to add personalization

  • Which ideas feel useful

  • Whether to try a suggested practice

  • What action, if any, to take next

  • Whether to speak with a trusted person or qualified professional

The AI helps assemble the Guide. The user remains responsible for deciding how—or whether—to use it.

Teen+ Users

Teen+ is intended for users age 13 and older.

Teen users should avoid submitting identifying information about themselves or other people. They are not expected to disclose a personal experience in order to receive a Guide.

The AI Mentor should be used only as an educational Guide-building tool. It is not a substitute for support from a parent, guardian, trusted adult, educator, counselor, healthcare provider, or other qualified professional.

Information about younger learners and parent or guardian pathways is available on our Parent and Guardian Information page.

EQ Guides are intended for lawful educational use. Users may not use Emotional Theater to harm, deceive, impersonate, discriminate against, exploit, threaten, or invade the privacy of another person.
