SAFETY POLICY
Effective Date: August 20, 2026
Emotional Theater Safety & Appropriate Use
Emotional Theater creates educational experiences that help people explore emotional intelligence, emotions, and Durable Skills. Our AI Mentor helps users choose a focus and create an EQ Guide built around their selections and any optional direction they provide.
These Safety & Appropriate Use Terms explain what Emotional Theater is designed to do, what it cannot do, and how Teen+ members, mentors, parents, educators, and other users can participate responsibly.
By using Emotional Theater, you agree to follow these terms.
1. Emotional Theater Is an Educational Experience
Emotional Theater and its AI Mentor are educational tools for building emotional intelligence and Durable Skills.
They do not provide:
Therapy or counseling
Medical or mental health treatment
Diagnosis
Crisis intervention
Legal, medical, or other professional advice
A substitute for a qualified professional or trusted adult
An EQ Guide may offer ideas, questions, language, or skills to consider. It does not know everything about you or your circumstances, and it should not make important decisions for you.
You are responsible for deciding what information is appropriate and useful to carry forward.
2. What the AI Mentor Does
The AI Mentor helps you build an EQ Guide by inviting you to choose:
An emotion, EQ focus, or Durable Skill
A more specific area of focus
An age or grade level, when appropriate
An optional question, skill, idea, or desired takeaway
Your selections are used to create an educational Guide around that direction.
Personalization is optional. You can receive a complete Guide without sharing a personal situation.
3. Personalization Without Private Disclosure
You do not need to tell the AI Mentor a private story.
If you choose to personalize your Guide, focus on what you would like to understand, strengthen, practice, or remember.
For example:
“I want to practice listening.”
“Help me think more clearly before making a decision.”
“I want to understand why feedback can feel difficult.”
“Give me an idea I can remember during a group project.”
Do not include:
Your full name or someone else’s full name
Home or school addresses
Phone numbers
Email addresses
Passwords or account credentials
Social Security, financial, or government identification numbers
Exact location information
Private identifying information about another person
Images or information you do not have permission to share
Additional information about how data is collected, used, stored, and deleted appears in our Privacy Policy.
4. AI Has Limitations
Artificial intelligence can misunderstand a request, miss important context, or produce information that is incomplete, inaccurate, repetitive, or unsuitable.
An EQ Guide should be treated as a learning resource—not as an unquestionable authority.
Users should:
Think critically about the Guide
Use their own judgment
Ask a trusted adult or qualified professional when appropriate
Avoid relying on the AI Mentor for urgent, high-risk, medical, legal, or safety decisions
Report content that appears unsafe, inappropriate, or seriously incorrect
Emotional Theater does not promise that every AI-generated response will be error-free or appropriate for every person or situation.
5. Teen+ Participation
The Teen+ AI Mentor is intended for users ages 13 and older.
Users under 13 may not create or independently use a Teen+ account. Any separate Emotional Theater experience created for younger learners must operate through its designated parent, guardian, school, or organizational process and may be subject to additional permissions and privacy requirements.
Users between 13 and 17 should use Emotional Theater with the awareness and involvement of a parent, guardian, educator, or other responsible adult when required by applicable law or organizational policy.
Users must provide truthful age or grade information when asked.
6. Mentor Responsibilities
The Mentor experience is intended to support parents, guardians, educators, youth-development professionals, coaches, program leaders, and other adults guiding learning moments.
Mentors agree to:
Use EQ Guides as educational resources
Use professional judgment before sharing Guide content
Consider the learner’s age, development, context, and needs
Avoid pressuring a learner to disclose a private experience
Avoid presenting AI-generated content as diagnosis, treatment, or professional mental health advice
Follow applicable safeguarding, reporting, privacy, and organizational requirements
Seek appropriate qualified or emergency support when a situation exceeds the purpose of an educational EQ Guide
A Mentor Guide does not replace a mentor’s professional responsibilities, safeguarding duties, or knowledge of the learner.
7. Appropriate Use
Emotional Theater may be used to:
Explore emotions and emotional awareness
Understand and practice Durable Skills
Prepare for everyday decisions and conversations
Support age-appropriate learning experiences
Develop reflection, communication, critical thinking, and other skills
Create a starting point for a respectful conversation
Consider a useful takeaway or practice
Emotional Theater may not be used to:
Threaten, harass, bully, shame, or intimidate another person
Generate hateful, discriminatory, exploitative, or abusive content
Request sexual or otherwise inappropriate content involving minors
Encourage dangerous, illegal, or seriously harmful behavior
Impersonate another person or misrepresent someone’s identity
Reveal, collect, or distribute another person’s private information
Manipulate, control, diagnose, or evaluate another person
Circumvent safety systems, account limits, or access restrictions
Upload malicious code or interfere with the operation of the service
Use generated content to violate another person’s rights
Use the service in violation of applicable law
8. Safety Responses and Content Review
Emotional Theater may use automated safety systems to identify content that appears outside the educational purpose of the AI Mentor.
When content raises a serious safety concern, the system may:
Pause or decline the request
Display a safety message
Encourage the user to contact a trusted adult, qualified professional, or appropriate local support
Limit continued interaction
Create a restricted safety record for review, where permitted and described in the Privacy Policy
Automated safety systems have limitations. Emotional Theater is not a continuously monitored emergency service, and users should not assume that a person is reading their entries in real time.
9. Account Safety
Users are responsible for protecting their account information.
Do not:
Share your password
Allow another person to impersonate you
Attempt to access another user’s account
Leave your account open on a shared device
Use another person’s account without permission
Contact Emotional Theater promptly if you believe an account has been accessed without authorization.
10. Saved Guides and Reflections
If Emotional Theater allows users to save EQ Guides, takeaways, or reflections, those materials are connected to the user’s account as described in the Privacy Policy.
Before saving anything, consider whether it contains information you would prefer not to store. Use general language and avoid identifying details whenever possible.
Users may request access to or deletion of eligible account information according to the procedures in the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
11. Schools and Organizations
Schools, youth programs, theaters, community organizations, and other partners using Emotional Theater are responsible for:
Obtaining any permissions required for participating learners
Providing appropriate notice to parents or guardians
Following applicable student privacy and safeguarding requirements
Limiting access to authorized users
Using learner information only for authorized educational purposes
Providing appropriate adult supervision
Informing Emotional Theater of safety, privacy, or access concerns
Separate organizational agreements may include additional requirements.
